History Of Uttaranchal
The history of state Uttaranchal goes back to the early years of the 20th century when political and social awareness started among the people of this region to over come from poverty and backwardness after 1910.
In 1938 Pandit J.L.Nehru said that the people of this region need special rights to taketheir decision under special circumstances of this region.
After 1979 the human movement started when a new political party called "Uttaranchal Kranti Dal"came into existence but it took a new turn in the year 1994 when the than state chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav passed reservation quota bill for the minorities.The movement spread over in the whole Uttaranchal region with in a very short period time and every youth,old aged man ,woman and child took active part in it.

Gomukh
Gomukh, the source of the river Bhagirathi and Gangotri glacier ,is located at an altitude of 4,200 Mts. above the sea level.The trekking to Gomukh is very adventurous and dangerous but those who love adventure should once go for it.

Dayara Bugyal
Dayara Bugyal, a long stretched green meadow , is situated at an altitude of 3,048 Mts. above the sea level .A meadow located at a high altitude is called Bugyal in Garhwali .The meadow is covered with snow in the winter and becomes a boon for snow skiing .It is approx. 35 Kms. from Uttarkashi including a 6 Kms. walking trek from Barsu.

Harsil
Situated at an altitude of 2,620Mts. above the sea level ,"Harsil" is famous for it's natural beauty and tranquility.harsil is also famous for the gardening of apples.
Saattal
Situated at a distance of about 2 Kms. from harsil ,"Saattal" is famous tourist destination. As the name suggest this place has seven lakes at a place which makes it more beautiful.

Yamunotri
Yamunotri is the source of the river "Yamuna" .It is located on a flank of the Bandarpunch peak, at an altitude of 3,322 Mts. above the sea level and the trek to Yamunotri goes along the river bank .The trek to Yamunotri is adventurous , magnificent and offers wide panorama of snow clad mountains of the Himalaya.

Nandanvan Tapovan
Nandanvan Tapovan is situated opposite to the gangotri glacier at a distance of 6 Kms. from gangotri. Nandanvan Tapovan lies on the foothill of Bhagirathi mountain peaks and offers a majestic view of the peaks of the Himalayan Mountain range and a panoramic view of the Gangotri Glacier.
